In the early 1990s, durable stainless steel conduit products designed for corrosive environments were difficult to source. Many installations relied on zinc-plated, galvanized steel, carbon steel, or PVC-coated fittings because of their lower upfront cost. Over time, however, exposure to moisture, chemicals, washdown conditions, salt, and other corrosive elements often led to premature corrosion, maintenance issues, and costly replacement work.

Recognizing the growing demand for longer-lasting conduit systems, Joseph G. Gibson founded Gibson Stainless & Specialty Inc. in 1995. From the beginning, the company focused on manufacturing high-quality Type 316 stainless steel electrical products backed by responsive customer service and reliable lead times.

Gibson Stainless began with a small line of stainless steel support fittings and continued expanding its product offering as demand for corrosion-resistant electrical infrastructure increased across industrial and commercial markets. Today, the company offers a broad range of stainless steel conduit, fittings, and accessories designed to help support complete Type 316 stainless steel conduit systems in corrosive and demanding environments.
